Why bother leaving the house?

Ben Saunders begins his TED Talk with this two-part question: "Philosophically, does the constant supply of information steal our ability to imagine or replace our dreams of achieving? After all, if it is being done somewhere by someone, and we can participate virtually, then why bother leaving the house?"

As a polar explorer, he gets farther out of the house than most of us, but the lessons he's learned apply whether you're a world traveller, a backcountry enthusiast or never stray farther than your back yard.

TEDxAlgonquinPark is less than 2 months away! Watch for announcements about speakers and attendee applications coming in the next few weeks. If you haven't already signed up for our newsletter, do that here (you'll be among the first to get the scoop!)
